Resonance of the Meketefiya: A Tribute to Women’s Strength (Mektefua 5)
Tamerat Siltan’s work explores memory, tradition, and resilience through everyday materials. For eight years, he has reimagined the Meketefiya—a worn wooden chopping board—as a symbol of endurance and womanhood. His assemblages, crafted from jute sacks, newspapers, and ropes, reveal hidden histories of labor and survival. In Resonance of the Meketefiya, these overlooked objects take on new meaning, inviting us to reflect on identity, resilience, and the quiet power embedded in the everyday.
